The 2014 GMC Yukon ranked highest in its segment in the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout StudySM released today. Yukon was also recently recognized by J.D. Power in both the Initial Quality and Vehicle Dependability Studies.
“Recognizing the Yukon demonstrates the effort and attention to detail given by our engineers and designers,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick and GMC. “These awards reinforce our focus on putting the customer at the center of everything we do from the first visit to the dealership, to the drive home, or 10 years down the road.”
The 2014 APEAL is based on more than 83,000 responses to questions about how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive in the first 90 days after purchase.
Last month, the GMC Yukon ranked highest in its segment in the 2014 J.D. Power Initial Quality StudySM. The 2014 IQS is based on responses from the same 83,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2014 model year vehicles surveyed at 90 days of ownership. The study includes a 233-question survey designed to provide manufacturers with information quickly identify problems and drive improvement.
Earlier this year, the GMC Yukon was ranked highest in segment in the 2014 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study. J.D Power uses information gathered from owners of 3-year-old, or 2011 model year vehicles, to rank overall dependability.
Brand offers hands-free connectivity with Apple Siri Eyes Free, Text Message Alerts
Being able to stay connected, even while in the car, is a high priority for many drivers and passengers on the road today. That’s why every 2015 Buick model will come standard with Apple Siri Eyes Free and Text Message Alerts. Most 2015 Buick models will also come standard with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, powered by OnStar with 4G LTE.
“People have become accustomed to having their mobile devices with them wherever they go, and that includes their vehicle,” said Roger McCormack, Buick product director. “With standard technologies like Siri Eyes Free and Text Message Alerts, Buick provides drivers with a convenient and safe way to stay in touch while on the road.”
According to a recent Kelley Blue Book survey, 39 percent of consumers choose a vehicle to buy based on its available in-vehicle technology, including infotainment and navigation.
“Today’s shoppers are more influenced by technology and infotainment systems than ever before,” said Arthur Henry, analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com. “With Buick’s IntelliLink now including these standard convenience features, the brand will further be in the forefront of consumers’ minds when shopping for their next vehicle.”
1. Run several errands in one trip. Pick up the dry cleaning, dog food and groceries in one trip. Even better, do it on your way to or from work.
2. Reduce Weight. Less weight in your car means that the engine won’t have to work as hard. Eliminate unnecessary cargo, especially during your daily commute because those miles add up quick.
3. Keep your tires inflated to manufacturer standards. This one is easy and makes a huge difference. Low inflated tires will have a drastic effect on the fuel mileage your car gets.
4. Don’t speed! While each car has a different optimal speed to fuel mileage ratio, a good rule to keep in mind is that, on average, every 5 mph over 50 mph that you travel costs an extra 25 cents/gallon.
5. Use cruise control and overdrive. Most modern car’s cruise control uses a computer to achieve the best possible fuel economy. Using overdrive, especially on the freeway, engages a higher gear ratio, effectively reducing the amount of work your car’s engine is exerting.

Car models and brands fade in and out of popularity. What’s new and exciting one minute can become stagnant and outdated before you know it. In the fast-paced auto industry, the pressure to innovate is always on. When that pressure is at its worst, the professionals are separated from the amateurs. Worthy brands rise to the occasion, and Buick is one that has stood the test of time.
A few years into the new millennium, Buick was called to rise to such an occasion. As crossover vehicles flooded the market and a new generation got behind the wheel, a fresh way of thinking about Buick needed to be introduced.
That’s when Buick surprised everyone with the crossover vehicle that took the world by storm, destroyed its competition, and redefined the brand by giving it a fresh new face: the Buick Enclave.
Have you test driven the 2014 model? It might just make you see the world in an entirely new light.

Along with the technology, safety, and styling enhancements offered on the redesigned Buick Regal and Regal GS, is the newly available advanced all-wheel-drive.
While those in the Snowbelt, and perhaps many further south this winter, associate all-wheel-drive vehicles with wintery weather, the Regal’s on-demand automatic AWD system is designed to help provide better control in all weather and road conditions, including dry surfaces.
Using a system that can distribute power both front to rear and side to side, the Regal is able to shift torque to the wheels based on vehicle data and driver input. When trekking through snow and icy conditions better control is achieved through improved traction and stability with drive to all four wheels.
The same ideas are applied during spirited driving and even emergency maneuvers on dry or wet pavement. With the ability to transfer power to the rear, the Regal AWD is not depending on the front wheels to do it all. This, combined with HiPer Strut front suspension, results in enhanced control from less torque steer and understeer when the driver needs traction the most, such as exiting a corner.
“With power going to all four wheels and the ability to transfer power to the wheel with the most grip, we’ve helped enable the driver to have maximum control on all surfaces,” said James Walter, Regal AWD engineer. “This system is constantly monitoring several inputs and anticipating action. It can be very beneficial in keeping the rear of the car balanced during an emergency maneuver.”
At launch in a straight line, the core of the AWD system splits the torque approximately 50/50 between the front and rear wheels. The system is constantly calculating and redistributing the torque. In the Regal GS, selecting the Sport or GS Interactive Drive Control modes heightens the AWD system sensitivity and shift up to 15 percent more torque to the rear wheels for improve traction and stability during performance driving.
An active Haldex module directs drive to the rear wheels. This system uses an electronic limited slip differential, or eLSD, which can rapidly shift torque between the two rear wheels to make the most of vehicle stability and cornering capability. A more neutral balance, less torque steer and understeer for maximum grip results in optimal acceleration, cornering and handling during performance driving in the Regal GS AWD.
AWD is available on all 2014 Regal models equipped with the new 2.0L Turbo engine that produces a refined 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Regal is the fourth Buick in the current lineup to offer AWD, alongside Enclave, Encore, and LaCrosse.
Did you know NASCAR had homologation rules as recently as the 1980s? Neither did I.
Just
117 LeSabre Grand Nationals were built in order to homologate the
streamlined rear quarter window for NASCAR competition. It was not
turbocharged and just one run of cars were built to be sold in areas
near the Daytona 500.
It was supposed to be built in black and
white, but just black was built, along with one red one. All the info
you could want on the LeSabre GN is available here.
